The remains of an amazing spread at the table next to us

Nikki, our server at Jackass.

Chip Facka, our bartender at Civil War Cider Co.

In addition to the ones on tap at the Cider Pub, which opened in 2014, their cider is available in cans and bottles for takeout. You also can get growlers filled, which other customers were doing when we visited.

We could have spent all afternoon at Jackass Brewing Co., but there were other places to try, so after getting the passport stamped we headed to Civil War Cider on Market Street in downtown Lewisburg. Owner Rob Antanitis makes each artisanal cider in-house with local apples. They are Civil War-style ciders, some aged in oak whiskey barrels. The day we visited, Chip Facka was our server. We sampled two ciders – a passionfruit and a plum. Both were very tasty. And he suggested we take home some of the peach cider from the Pandemic Pride Series. A very good suggestion!

And Civil War Cider also sells Rusty Rail Brewing Company’s beers, the next place on the River Rat Brew Trail that we had decided to visit!
